Let's face it - there are times when we need to go to a fast food restaurant. Desperate times call for desperate measures is my motto. Sometimes you have no choice but to eat fast food in the fast paced culture we live in today. If you're traveling, in a rush or if there are no other alternatives and you're about to pass out may be one of those times. Many of us would prefer to boast that we never eat fast food but if we what to cook in my slow cooker a lie detector tests it would be proved otherwise.

Nearly all bodybuilders incorporate egg white in their diets. This is because egg whites offer protein in one of the most pure form. The ratio of protein to fat in egg white is 60 to 1. This means that most protein absorbed from egg white is ready for use by ones body for protein synthesis. The carbohydrate level is minimal, almost 8%. Egg whites are also a very good source of minerals and vitamins.

Is there a way to get the health benefits of turkey without having to spend hours cooking and carving it? Some delis have unprocessed cooking boneless turkey breast that they'll slice for you if you ask. Another option is to buy a small, frozen turkey and cook it in your slow cooker. One small turkey can be the source of sandwich meat for days with enough left over for soups, salads, and to serve as a main course. It's also more economical than buying processed turkey.

While turkey meat may be fine as an occasional treat, every single bone should be carefully removed, especially if the turkey is cooked. Cooked poultry bones are very sharp and brittle. They can seriously injure both cats and dogs if they are swallowed.

The other alternative, and the one I want to suggest here, is to BUY LOCAL! Here in Utah, there are plenty of alternatives than Smith's, Walmart, and Albertsons. There are tons of organic, local farms that have fresh beef, chicken, turkey breast steak recipes jamie oliver, and pork. This meat is farm-fresh, raised generally on organic local feed products, and not given any steroids, antibiotics, or growth hormones. I will spotlight a Utah farm for each of the above four products.

If you're looking to avoid meat entirely, veggie burgers can be a healthier option. Veggie burgers are often made from combinations of carrots, mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, black beans and some sort of ingredient to bind everything together such as oatmeal or breadcrumbs. You can make them at home or even purchase pre-made veggie burgers from the store.

The first step to preparing a moist turkey is defrosting the bird. Safely defrosting a turkey takes time - it is important the meat remains cool to thwart the emergence of bacteria. Ideally a turkey roast should be defrosted in the refrigerator, though this is a slow process often lasting days. Place the turkey, in its original wrapping, in a pan on the bottom shelf so any drippings will not contaminate other food items. As a rule of thumb a turkey in the refrigerator will need approximately 5 hours per pound of turkey to defrost. For example, a 12 pound turkey requires about 60 hours (12 pounds times 5 hours) to thaw completely.

Patients with liver or kidney disease should consult their physician before changing over to a high protein diet. Additionally, a high protein diet does not provide enough vitamins and minerals in the long run.

But the transition would continue and the benefits to our country will be enormous - not only will our children be healthier, but our farmers will be busier, and our health care costs will drop significantly! The next time you walk into a McDonalds... take a look around. You may just see a sign leading back to the new play area called "BarackLand" and right there on the bench will be a porcelain statue of President Obama with his legs crossed so that all of the admiring "healthy" children can climb up on his lap and have their picture taken with him. Don't laugh... McDonalds could be next on the list. : ) Disclaimer: Any similarities of this story to any real situation or person is purely coincidental... and totally, unfortunate.
